I have the idea of travelling across Europe by train. The Bernina Express has been suggested for part of the trip.

Any ideas, please for a route, company, whatever?

The Bernina Express is operated by the Rhaetian Railway, or RhB. It's a meter gauge railway in the Swiss Alps, with the journey taking you from Chur to just over the Italian border at Tiarano. It's the highest railway pass in Europe and takers you through some spectacular scenery at a fairly leisurely pace - you should certainly consider it for inclusion in your trip.

I highly recommend the trip, it is absolutely brilliant. It is very easy to sort out the tickets yourself, no need to use a tour operator. You can use the journey as part of the trip from the UK to Italy.
