Just caught a superb film about Heathrow in the early 60's

It was under the 'Glimpses' heading. these normally bring up some transport gems

It is repeated at 13.30 this thursday

Set the recorder!!

I'd noticed they had some short films on at various times while scrolling through the EPG the other day.

There's some great old footage of Heathrow (and lots of other airports) on you tube.

Who needs TV.

This is one of my favourites - TV (i.e. video rather than film) footage taken at Heathrow by Thames TV back in 1970. Because it's video rather than film, it has a more "immediate" and live feel to it. And it's in colour.

Is it on you tube?

It's the colour footage that I really like because it really brings the era to life.

Talking pictures shows loads of these old shorts and information films, they are usually either B.F.I. or Pathe clips.
Watched a short the other day about how 6.4 million milk bottles go missing every week!

When my wife was recently staying in Hammersmith i dug out a load of old footage of the Cromwell Road terminal in operation, and the old BEA routemasters hauling the passengers to Heathrow with the luggage in a trailer on the back.
