Looked rather like they just collided shortly after coming out of the plane. Landed safely though damply!

It seems that both their chutes deployed properly but that they tangled when attempting their vertical stacking.

I heard the interview with the two paras on Radio 4 tonight. I've never heard two calmer guys, you could hear their steel bks clanking as they talked.

'Failing to open' is quite different from 'getting tangled'. Amazing no-one seems to be able to work out the difference.

Well, I was watching it, and had no idea. My estimate was failed to open properly, got tangled, landed safely. Probably, but I'm no expert.

Both chutes opened properly. They started manouevering into position to do their "stacked" routine. It didn't quite go to plan and two of them tangled.

All were fully deployed & the pair of them flew into each other which caused the parachute of the one below to collapse.
Crap & sensationalist reporting which made it sound like a spectacular mid air life saving catch.

By brother in law was a Para in the 1960s and he did actually what the reports were erroneously saying about this incident - he caught a chap who's chutes had failed and they both landed together.

That's my understanding too. Looked more like a mistake than a chute issue.

The press has to make news so why be accurate with the facts? A light aircraft conducts a successful precautionary forced landing into a field and suddenly it was a plane 'crash'.....so parachutist in trouble is clearly because his chute never opened!

I also reckon the lads have titanium nads....
