Upgrading someone else's BA flight with miles
Discussion
Probably better to post this on flyertalk but I thought I'd try here...
My parents have booked economy BA flights to come visit me in September.
I have almost 200k BA miles and I was wondering if it's possible for me to phone BA and upgrade their world traveller ticket with my miles.
Does anyone have experience with this?
I have the booking number and I would do it without telling them.
Thanks

Not really possible.
You can only gift x amount(its quite low) of miles to someone and you have to pay for the privilege.
The only way other way is to setup a family account with your parents in it, this allows you to pool your air miles and spend them as you see fit. However all family members are supposed to live at the same address. I think you could blag this option but you'd still need your parents help to set it all up.

Had the same issue with Continental a few years back.
Shame, as would be nice to be able to share the points.
