Big jet very low Exeter

On my way into Exeter around 1215pm large grey jet yellow logo on tail was very low and slow on a very unusual approach coming from the SW over Dartmoor. the strange thing about this direction is the fact you have to overfly the entire city and then a couple more miles to the airport at the height it was at seems very strange. Any one know what it was ?
