Just unload it there truck the kit to the nearby airfield and then fly off. It won't need 9,000ft when empty.

Ok, how about........... using the tug (when it's working again) to tow the aircraft all the way to the other airfield, they will need to take down power lines, knock down a few houses to widen the roads and build stronger bridges but it's doable.

Surely someone can calculate the runway length required with the minimum fuel load to get to another/the other airfield - I would have thought the captain could have done that there & then? Or is the 6000-odd ft runway still going to be too short?

Lay some Trakway to temporarily extend the runway?

Hmm, so, I can see the pilots made an error, and one which could have had serious implications, but when all is said and done, apart from their bkings/jobs, what's all the fuss about then?

install a load of big fans at the far end of the runway to create a massive head wind!

Dig the runway up and build i back on a steep downslope


or

Dig the runway up and make it circular so the plane can just go round and round until it takes off

replace the planes landing gear with large pogosticks so it can just hop into the air

Get a big crane. Big enough to lift if off the ground. Then use another, even bigger crane to lift that crane up. Now, get the second crane turning at speed whilst the plane starts its engines. Centrifugal force will lift the plane off the ground, and with a long enough arms there will be plenty of airspeed as the planes wizzes round and round

Now raise the undercarriage and release like a giant trebuchet, and the plane can fly away safely to another airport. Extra bonus as it can take off in any direction, saving valuable fuel an emissions.

In fact, I wonder why every large, flat. Circular concrete area in the world doesn't use this system as an airport. How many roundabouts are near Heathrow?? We could see dozens of these in next to no time. No need for a third runway at all.

Pull it to the far end, rev it up to 3500, and then get the pilot to dump the clutch.

The point of the dreamlifter is to move things around that are too big to go by road.
