Inflatable kayaks - anyone used one?

I'm thinking of getting one of these things to mess around on the local river/lake. Has anyone used one? Do they have any use with them not being ridgid?

There's loads for sale on eBay and I guess it's the right time to snap up a bargain?

I have two Sevylor Rangers, which I do not believe are available any more.

Never had any issues with them not being rigid, obviously not as quick in the water but make up for this by being easier to get in the car boot or on the train.

Whichever one you get would recommend it has a strong canvas outer, this gives more choice as to which rivers you can take it on and means your day is less likely to be ruined by a puncture.

Also a bonus if the floor is fully joined to the sides (and not by tape) as this is far more likely to stay waterprrof.

I have two Sevylors, one is a K335 Colorado with the canvas outer.

Very useful in terms of portability, and great fun on lakes & rivers in France.

Cheers guys. How flat are they when packed? I need to store it under a bed (about 30cm high) would it fit?

Normally they are rolled up in a bag, deflated and folded in half it should fit.

They can take a couple of days to fully dry out which you will need to consider if you are keeping it indoors

After a bit of research tonight I've decided on a Sevylor make. Just deciding on the model now.

I thought these things had aluminium supports down them? None of the ones I've seen have.

i bought a Sevylor Adventure from Go Outdoors (got them to pricematch) and it's a fantastic two-seater. Use it quite often in Wales.

They are totally soft apart from the plastic handles & valves. A really good design. Total size of our 3 seater Colorado when rolled & packed in it's bag iis about 60cm long and about 30cm across.
