Want to be an airline pilot?

BA have opened the Future Pilot Programme for the third year running. I posted the link in the jobs forum, but it might be more relevant here.

Chances are, if you get through the assessment process, you're going to meet all the required standards. Having said that, BA have been excellent when cadets have had any issues.

Obviously it's not risk free. But it is the most financially viable airline scheme leading to a relatively secure and rewarding airline career.

One of the key requirements for success is motivation. Without it there's little chance. Training is essential believe it or not otherwise you won't be equipped to do the job.

Curious about this. I meet the criteria easily, except the A-Level requirements (BCC). What are the chances of being accepted?

This is stil a dream of mine if and when I have the disposable to do it. What are the wages at BA like over a career?

If you have the stated further education, you don't need the A levels.

And yes, the application window is about to open. It goes live for applications on the 11th. Looking for 60 cadets. I thought some on PH might appreciate a heads up, as the window will only be open for a short time.

Depends who you work for surely. Pay and conditions vary massively amongst different airlines.

The airlines would have you think that, but ultimately it comes out of your salary!

I've heard of guys on last years intake having had their training put on hold. I' m guessing they're not being paid until they start line training.

No one has had training put on hold. There is a gap between completion of training and commencing type rating on the 320, of between 2-3 months.

Correct, no pay until the LPC check has been passed, typically six weeks into type rating.
