Son is 16 this year. He has had a brilliant year at school, but is not very demanding re: birthday or Xmas gifts. Really doesn't want anything in particular.

He loves tall buildings and London - and thanks to Jogon from here, I took him into the Gherkin, CW, Lloyds Building last year.

I thought a helicopter tour of London might be fun for him.

Any PHers done this? Recommendations and ideas of cost woudl be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Not done it myself, but sounds like a really nice idea.

A quick bit of Google-Fu shows a 30 minute trip is circa £200. Not too bad TBH.

You can get a flight over London in a dehavilland Dragon Rapide from Duxford, see them trundling around from my sister's flat now and again.

I walk past their starting point each morning and they've just started up again. Not much interest though! hehe

There are some people based at Battersea Heliport who do that for a couple of hundred quid

Cheers. A couple of hundred sounds more doable than £500 for a birthday present.

Lads got me this for my 30th, had a nice full English at the air field then a black taxi round to the chopper ( nice touch) then 30min flight over London including london eye and canary wharf. Was an excellent day out and got some great photos.
