Trainee Train drivers- contracts

Hi Folks, if you are recruited by a train operator and go through their training program are you contracted to work for them for a given period of time? I imagine it costs a lot to put someone through the process and the operator would want to get full value before the successful driver moves on (should they wish).

At DBS they have to do 3 years productive or repay some/all training costs .
Dunno about other companies .

Our company is 2 years from the day you pass out, and notice period is normally 3 months.

If you do wish to apply elsewhere some companies want a minimum amount of time being productive, so if yours is less than 3 contracted you might end up having to do 3 years productive there to be considered for another company

It's also worth noting that the clock will only start once you are qualified and driving on your own. My company wouldn't even consider someone with less than 5years driving experience.
