Aircraft Spotted Thread - Do we have one?

I often see unusual aircraft flying over or aircraft worthy of a mention but in the interest of "bandwidth", it doesn't really warrant a thread of it's own.
Is there an official spotted thread?
A yellow monoplane with a loud low drone, large cockpit cover (dual seat by the look of it) & USAF decal on the side just flew over.
I didn't get the reg nº or a look at the front end but the wings were set at the bottom of the fuselage.
I reckon it's flying out of White Waltham.
G00gling "yellow plane" didn't return the desired result.
After a bit more research, the Douglas SBD Dauntless looks favourable.
Why would it be painted yellow though?

Won't be a Dauntless, only one airworthy example - and it's US based. It sounds like a Harvard to me.Is there an official spotted thread?

If this is an American aircraft, why is it listed as a de Haviland (or were they made under licence)?

The Harvard was designed by North American (and known as The AT6 Texan by the USAAF, the T6 Texan bu the USAF, and the SNJ by the USN).

It's a North American SNJ-5, the US Navy version of the T-6 Texan. In the UK, it's called the Harvard. This particular one is registered G-CHIA.I didn't get the reg nº or a look at the front end but the wings were set at the bottom of the fuselage.

By coincidence, I'm doing a full T-6 checkout in Florida in a couple of weeks. I'll perhaps be flying the one you saw sometime afterwards.

I had a flight in a beautiful yellow T-6 with the guys at Warbird Adventures, based at Kissimmee. A memorable and enjoyable day with a great pilot (who is sadly no longer with us).

Not "spotted" as such but I heard the drone of a Hercules above the clouds earlier. A quick look on Planefinder shows an MC-130 doing a lap of the UK via the east coast. I assume it's something to with our "friend" Mr Kerry gracing us with his presence..

It came from the direction of Odiham, and I'd seen a Merlin heading there in the opposite direction this morning (no photo, but enough time spent in the back of them to know what one looks like). The Merlin had been lower in the sky, too, so on hearing the one in the picture, I quickly grabbed my camera and snapped this shot as it disappeared. It didn't sound like a Merlin, and the long side pods (sponsons?) were too long for a Merlin. The four blade main rotor and starboard mounted tail rotor further ruled out the Merlin, and also my first thought of the HH-53 (possibly German).
So. Does anyone know if there are any S-92s operating in this country? Or might this have been a H-92 Superhawk?
I'm aware that the Canadians have allegedly pulled the plug on their H-92 order and may be looking at the navy Merlin Mk2. Could this involve a comparison test between the two types here in UK? I couldn't see a AAR probe so it could just be a civilian S-92 that I saw.
