B17 ???

Friday saw me trundling down the M4, between Reading and Newbury around 16.00 I think I spotted a B17 ? Due to the angle of the aircraft I wasn't able to make out to many details ...

four props, mid / low wing, large tail section ...

Would it have been possible ?

Yes - there is one based in the UK (since 1975).

There were Airshows at Bournemouth and Shoreham at the weekend so maybe it was warming up for them.

Almost certainley was B-17G 'Sally B' on her back to Ducford from displaying at Bournmouth Airshow, as she was due to display there just after 3pm, so timing is perfect for you to see it crossing M4 around 4ish.

Except she was at Shoreham at around 16.30!

I can confirm she was definitely over the west Solent at around 1500 on Saturday, crossing from the Isle of White going Bournemouth way.

The was Sally B over Henlow at around 3:15 on Friday flying away from Duxford.

I saw the Mitchell at props and pistons - East Kirkby on Bank holiday Monday. It's a fantastic display.

She was in Dublin yesterday afternoon. My mate is in the Irish Air Corp and uploaded a video of it. It looked beautiful.

I saw that at Duxford the other weekend - highlight of the show for me
