Pensecola/Elgin Museums

Got to visit Pensecola Naval base and Elgin Air Force base recently. A couple of great museums and they're both free. Some very rare aircraft at Pensecola and my first ever B47 at Elgin.
(I'm no photographer by the way )

















This AC-130 was the very first C-130 to come off the production line in 1953. It was converted to AC-130 spec and not retired until 1995.

And is should of course be Eglin AFB. Finger trouble

And I think it's "Pensacola" too

Never mind though - the US Navy museum looks excellent.

If you're going to be there a while, hang around Eglin a bit and you might see one of the UKs new F-35b's conducting their flight trials.

Saw them. Plus F-22s, Ospreys, F16s, F15s, C-130s, P8 Poseidon, Texans, Hueys and a Hip thrown in (this flew over every morning which was intriguing ).

Great area if you're an aviation buff.
