Refurbishing a 12ft rowing dinghy - help/advice needed

In a moment of madness/inspiration, i have bought myself a 12ft rowing dinghy and trailer for the princely sum of £50. Its condition sadly reflects the price.
The trailer needs new hubs, as they have rotted out - 4x100 on a 1" tapered shaft. Any suggestions where to source - I can find some on ebay, but am sure there must be an alternative to that.
The boat, a 12ft fibreglass dinghy, needs some TLC. It has a 12" crack down one side from the 'rim' down. I am sorting this - have braced the boat and will be cutting out the crack and re-fibreglassing. I am fairly comfortable with this part.
The part that I have no knowledge of is the woodwork - I need to replace the woodwork all round the boat - it is cracked and bits are missing. I can do basic woodwork, but I have two main questions:
What sort of wood shoud I buy? Is the std pine stuff from the timber merchant suitable?
How do I go about forming the curve to the shape of the boat? Is there a DIY technique?
