Heading into Poole Harbour? It looked naval and was following a large, presumably Royal Marine, RIB. I would guess it was 30-40ft with a hull like an offshore powerboat and a smallish, raked, cabin about 1/3 from the front. It was light grey apart from the front of the cabin which was dark grey. No flags or markings.

It was the sort of military boat a child would draw, which is probably why my eldest was so excited about it.

As a complete left field guess: Wally 47. Or similar Wally.

Bigger than that, with a pointy bow and less glass.

A bit like this.

But no noticeable radar etc on the cabin.

That's a cool toy smile

70 mph!, but I bet it still has to wait for the chain ferry and Condor when it comes through the mouth of the harbour.

My last job i was involved with that boats predecessor or should i say predecessors! Ive looked over that boat from the Mail article and its a thing of function and power. The 2 that it replaced were stored in one of my storage sheds not too far from Poole. Big fking things with 2 very large turbo charged engines (MAN ones if i remember rightly). You know its fast when there is another lever next to the throttles saying "BOOST"!
They also have smaller Fabio Buzzi intercept craft which i went out in in return for "storing" the bigger ones for THEM. I do a fair bit of Powerboating myself but never travelled through Poole Harbour as fast as what i did that day!
