Spitfire At Liverpool Airport Any Ideas?

I meant to post this a couple of weeks back but forgot, anyway around lunchtime on the 2nd June I landed at Liverpool and waiting for a lift I heard the glorious sound of what I knew straight away was a Spitfire.

It was just doing laps over and around the airport and then flying down the runway, not landing, then climbing to do another lap and down the runway and repeat about 4 or 5 times.

Any ideas?

Sounds like just keeping up their currencies.

It seems it was PT462/G-CTIX. It's a two seat TrIX variant.

I'd always thought the Grace Spit was the only trainer left, shows what I know.

There are a few still airworthy, there are at least five in the UK.

A quick search around the North West Spotters forum revealed what had been in Speke on 2 June.

Goodwood revival normally brings out a lot of the Irish air corps 2 seaters. Boultbee at goodwood have one, there's the grace one, there's one that's owned by a Major day and that's just the ones I can remember at the top of my head.
