plane circling right now

We are about 70 miles south of Edinburgh on the a1 and their is a plane doing large circuits to the left of us. It is quite high up and has done at least 5. Anyone have any clue what it is doin?

Nah we are heading north and the cloud has come in a bit so can't even tell if the trails are still their

Sounds like an E3 AWACS on station doing Fighter Controllery stuff.

It's not showing up on Flight 24 so almost definitely military.
