After 30 years I've managed to visit HMS Belfast again today, as a 9 year old I'm sure I remember seeing gold bullion on board, but today no-one knew anything about it.
Did I imagine seeing it as a child or was it really there?
Belfast was sister ship to HMS Edinburgh which was sunk allegedly containing gold bullion. So you probably saw an exhibition panel about it and gold and made the leap from there.
