RAF low flying Dorset

Anyone know if there's exercises going on in Mid/West Dorset this week? Had a nice low flying Herc buzz my village near Dorchester yesterday and then tonight a Chinook fwapping it's way back and forth very close and low to the village for around 5 minutes

There used to be a lot of low flying over Dorset, back in the Cold War days. One particular low-level route led out into the channel over my school, to the west of Poole Harbour, then over Studland Beacch, by which point the planes were flying very low indeed. Great variety back then – mainly Vulcans, Buccaneers, Jags, Harriers, but sometimes Mirages and F111s, then later on Tornados.

Getting ready for Paralympics?

There is still a big military contingent here in Weymouth from the main games, my factory is near the Camp and we've had Chinooks and other big green and grey helicopters in and out for the last 3months in the build up, I think they are refueling here.
