As I was coming back down off the NY Moors this morning after walking the dogs I heard a low flying jet, which isn't exactly uncommon. However, when I eventually saw it, it appeared to be a Red Hawk on its own.
Any idea why this might have been? Scampton is within flying distance, but in 7 years of living up here I've never seen them at all, never mind one flying low-level and solo.

They normally train at Scampton and Valley.
But today's Notams indicate they are doing a display at Sywell this afternoon. And they will no doubt be at the IoM TT races next week.
We are getting to the time of year when pilots do need to check the Notams very carefully for airspace upgrades. Displays can be aborted if some errant C152 goes bumbling into the display area.
