...spotted today over Rugby.

Classic, twin radials, polished ally, low wing, single fin. Looked a bit like a Hudson but without twin fins. Very pretty, and looked American too for some reason. Might have had some yellow on it too in front of the fin.

Any ideas?

Could very well be. There is one flyable DC-2 in Europe but I'm not sure what it is up to at the moment.

Probably a Beech 18 or similar, I saw one a couple of months ago, sounded great too!



Edit: D'oh! missed the single fin part...
Then I thought Howard 500 as there was one it at Coventry..but that is twin fin too



The Lockheed Electra is twin-fin too...

The polished bit does seems to suggest DC-3/C-53 to me.

Perhaps this Duxford regular:




Although that is not on the list for this weekends Jubilee airshow at Duxford and the Anson is.

I'd be amazed if it weren't the Anson; Rugby is a regular haunt for it on pleasure flights and the yellow in front of the tail is a dead giveaway too.

Agree about the yellow, just would not have described it as 'polished' myself.
