Could an airliner tow a banner?

After seeing some tv advert today (t mobile i think) where there is a image of a full sized airliner towing a banner above London,it got me wondering could/has this ever really been done?
Or can it be only done with smaller planes?

I'd imagine the airspeed might make it a tad difficult, not to mention that in said advert the banner would be absolutely fking massive to be scale with the plane like that and would be putting a considerable weight and drag load on the tailplane that it wasnt designed for.
But then again, anything's possible

Easilly, It just wouldn't be a practical way of doing it from a cost point of view.
