Has anyone come across one of these, or anything similar before?

They look like fun - do they work? Google is drawing a blank for me. frown

I think it was in the days before jet skis I remember seeing ads for them in a copy of a 1980s boat magazine

I tried something similar when on holiday in Turkey in 1993
The steering was by foot pedal that worked in the wrong sense (eg left foot to turn right) and the torque from the rip-snorting 15hp outboard meant that it was canted over to one side under full power.

But apart from that absolutely hilarious fun!

Like it biggrin

Reminds me of "Jetskis" that I saw for hire in Goa, early 90s. They were basically a child's tricycle on floats with a fixed handlebar which came with a young lad sat on the back who operated the outboard engine whilst you shouted faster, slow down, left, right!

Oh God. That looks like its designed to nosedive into the first ripple, throwing you out and into the path of the propeller that will then gash your face and neck into kebab strips. Probably good fun until that deffinately happens though.

Many many years ago maybe 2005/6 my little brothers 13/14 year old best friend was given something similar to this as a birthday present...

http://www.sea-doo.com/showroom/boats/overview/200...

Wasn't a seadoo but similar in style to the above.

A little two man flat bottomed jet boat. Awesome part was that rather than a wheel it had a joystick.
You could literally make it spin on the spot. I was told at the time it was pretty swift as well.

Looked really well made too. Sadly cant find anything online.

I posted the link on Facebook; a mate's just sent me a message thanking me for the heads-up. He's bought it and said I can have a go when he gets it running. You're all invited to my funeral! biggrin

Tell your mate I owe him a pint - I was seriously tempted myself, if I could have worked out the logistics of collecting the thing, which wouldn't have been sensible at my age!

Let us know how he gets on?

Water trials are imminent! biggrin

He bought it minus the engine because the seller wanted it for something else. He told him it was mental with a 10hp 2-stroke but it'll take a 15. He's been struggling to get an engine because they don't make the 2 strokes any more due to emissions and the 4-strokes are too heavy.

He's managed to get hold of a 15hp Mercury and has just has a new steering arm and transom plate made so when they are fitted it will be ready to go!

And where did the OP go? I seem to recall he had some beef over Bluebird.

I had one of these, but it was a jet boat made by buccaneer was a few years back now but rather then have an outboard it had a jet with a rotax twin 2 stroke engine was certainly different and im still yet to see another.
