I know somehwere there's a thread about these trains but the search didn't bring anything back.

Anyway, Chinese bullet train derails, 11 dead.

Terrible, I would assume they use in-cab signaling over there as opposed to lineside signals? Even so, you would assume it would be interlocked so a train couldn't run into the space occupied by another train (including an adequate distance for braking). Stating the obvious here but either the lightening did some damage to the control system or someone fked up the design!
