Perfectly clear - don't bother flying during the Olympics if you are based on any airfield in the South of England.

Yes, the air wil be thick with politicians and VIPs all flying around congratulating each other and drinking champagne at our expense.

There's a huge "Kick Off" going on at the moment re flying schools loosing all of their revenue during the Olympic period through closed airspace. It wouldn't surprise me to see the whole area ringed with SAM sites. Sadly, it's gotta be the biggest terrorist target ever...

The main risk will be our very own 'British' fifth columnists I suspect...

Much as I don't rate Seb Coe since he swapped his running shorts for a suit, I wouldn't want him blown up either.

The terroists don't need to lift a finger as our own authoritys will be causing enough inconvience and fear mongering

Relates to IFR flow management, sod-all to do with VFR, and not really related to the Prohibited/Restricted Zone brain-damage.

However, I note comments in the press that the resignations of two senior police officers in the past seven days came as a blow to the security arrangements for the Olympics.....so just to be on the safe side, we should cancel the whole thing. Sorted.

I believe the phrase goes back to the Spanish Civil War, meaning 'the enemy within' - not politicians but dusky fellows on buses with rucksacks.

I am surprised at how far north this applies.

My dad was telling me about the Olympic period at the weekend (he is at North Weald) and I was only expecting the airports around London to be 'suffer'.

Try this for graphical representation of Notams free:

http://www.skydemonlight.com/

especially useful for Red Arrows Transit routes and displays and they are officially sanctioned I believe!
