..well, in the Solent anyway. For those interested.

She's the latest US Carrier and is stopping here after some work ups with the RN, on her way to her first operational deployment.

Anchorage 'C' is about a mile offshore from Stokes Bay, so should get a good view from the beach.

When you've finished with her, send it up here.

Nice to see it sail down the Manchester Ship Canal!

They have requested that aircraft keep at least 1000' horizontally and vertically from her...apparently the last time a US aircraft Carrier was over here a pair of microlights trundled down the centreline low enough to raise eyebrows....

Be good fun to play out the old MS Flight Simulator scenario though.....

Hello, nice smilie!

I'm good thanks! Just sold my boat, got the money today so it's a sad day. Still, looking to spend lots of money now, either on a house or a new car. smile You?

My bro is on HMS Westminster. He's been away a lot recently. He's been away for a few months now, Libya for ages (and without any communication), France, Scotland and he's back today in Portsmouth so we're having a meal out for his birthday over the weekend. biggrin

He rents a spare room in my house so I've been playing on his PS3 and watching his 3D TV lots! Ha ha!

Their next one is in build as we write. USS Gerald Ford, will be there biggest carrier at a cost (for the ship alone) of $14b.

And our media are dripping that they're paying the equivalent of $9b for two. Two that are cheaper to operate and need a lot less crew.

Looks worth a visit. Is there any good but not pricey places for Sunday lunch nearby as my Dad would love to see it.
