Just heard this go over. It's turned back over the Atlantic to Paris. Intriguing
Odd - not a medical emergency as otherwise they'd have landed somewhere in the UK. Wondering if something on the aircraft is has knackered itself and Delta have specific engineering support at CDG?
I would surmise something technical occurred which would prevent flying trans Atlantic, but didn't constitute an emergency.

A shame I didn't screenshot FR24, but during my break earlier today I went out into my garden and 3 military helicopters flew over making a hell of a racket, turned out to be 3 Royal Dutch Puma's coming back from Scotland, probably on exercise.

EDIT: They were on ADSB Exchange, not FR. But almost the same thing

That would seem obvious - but why go back to Paris specifically?

Probably heading home, there was a Dutch C130 flying towards the UK on ADSB a while ago, disappeared now though.

Will it be something to do with logistics and just the hassle of having to find another aircraft or deal with pax that might not have visa's for another country etc. While that's all sortable for an emergency divert, if a not emergency and can return to pod, then I guess that's always the preferred option for an airline.

Engineering I guess, as mentioned before, &/or possibly to allow it to meet up a Paris - Atlanta flight, for some of the offloaded passengers.

A bit of a weird one - a pair of helicopters just went overhead, all the way from northern Holland, did a loop at Bury St Eds and have landed at Old Buckenham airfield to the SW of Norwich. Maybe Cloggies here for the F1?

I saw that while I was at the Chalke History Festival in Broad Chalke. It caught my eye as it flew along the Ebble valley at fairly low level. At first I thought it quite an odd type to be in that area but then again, RN Merlins often fly around over Salisbury Plain out of Yeovilton, so perhaps not so strange...
