(Not my photos) Wasn’t sure where to post this but this seems as good as any. There’s a guy who lives near me and flies a Chinook. He will post when he’s flying over and often land/touch down and share this with locals. Today was another visit from two Chinooks who touched down. I almost went sick from work for this! (Photos taken from social media group) Love that he does this.

Fabulous. We had a Merlin come down with minor technical issues in a field near us a few years ago. The crew were put up in a nearby hotel for the night. It was repaired the next morning and I drove over to watch it go.

That Chinook in the field reminds me of the early 90s and childhood.

Used to see them flying over carrying landrovers and stuff. You knew instantly what type of Helicopter was coming by the sound.

Lynx, Puma, Wessex, Gazelles and Chinooks were part of everyday life in S.Armagh.

Yup, my dad had a factory beside Mahon Barricks in Portadown. Got some heavy traffic in July!

Funny how the F16 first flew nearly 4 years before the MiG 29 and yet the F16 is still the one to have, especially as far as Ukraine is concerned.

That's as much because the various European airforces that have flown them for the past 40+ years are now all about to retire them, so, aircraft available to transfer, and thus more abundant training available, to get their pilots converted, plus support equipment and weapons for them available that can be supplied to them. Its as much the logistics and support for the F-16 rather than purely the actual F-16 itself.

Plus the F16, even in Euro spec, has had a lot more capability upgrades than the MiG 29.

Always like parking in Heathrow T2/T3 Long Stay. The runway approach landing lights are literally in the middle of the car park, so you can stand and watch the planes go straight over your head, almost like St Marten! Well not quite, but you get the idea. This photo was taken from the far end of the car park.
