Herts Racing Supplies Shops - Seats?!
Discussion
Hi All
Just bought a track day project car (MR2) and need to find a good shop as close to herts as possible for sitting in and testing some bucket seats... Any good recommendations?
Right now I can only think of GPR over at silverstone and not sure what there selection is like. Any good places inside or near Herts with a good showroom to test sit in seats?!
Thanks!

Where in herts are you? You're welcome to come and sit in my track MR2.
Are you tall? The floor of the MR2 is very uneven, and as such buying an "off the shelf" seat to mount in an MR2 is a pain.
As I'm tall I have a bride seat with a (rare) ultra low mount subframe, imported from Japan. If you need your seat low down there's really few options.

Hi
Thanks for the offer, that may be a really good idea if you don't mind?
I am aiming to build out my MR2 for the MR2 Championship next year, so need to make the right choice for seat and mounting!
I am in St Albans, so not far from Hitchin. do you know any shops around here for testing different seat options?!

Hmmm, there's a chance RTEC will have some on display, though it's been a while since I've been in there. There's a big one Essex from the same brothers who started RTEC way but the name escapes me. I'll do some googling and report back. Thanks for the offer, that may be a really good idea if you don't mind?

I bought a beautiful carbon fibre seat for mine, a set of side mounts and spent a weekend trying to fit it with a friend (who's an engineer.) By the end of the weekend all we'd achieved was cutting up a set of £50 side mounts
If you come and view mine I'll whip out the seat if you've not already seen what the floor is like! This is her: http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/garage.php?mode=view_...
Ok will definitely pop over at some point, I will send you an email cheers!
I think the one in Essex is called Xtreme or something from memory? I just assumed those particular shops were more about novalty and looks rather than proper motorsport gear... R-Tec is 2 minutes from me so will go and have a quick look!

That's the one! Got your email and replied to.
Their range might be more for the "ricer", but they like their recaros and sparcos as much as the racer so, from memory, they generally range some nice quality seats.
I can certainly recommend a Schroth harness. I've a 5 point in mine and it's the best harness I've ever used.
