Good value tyre place near Hemel/St Albans
Discussion
Hi there, working in the area at the moment and my Ghibli needs some new boots on the back (surprise).
Does anyone know of a good value place near Hemel who aren't monkeys, i.e. will take the time to locate the jacking points instead of mushing soft bits of metal near the edge of the wheelarch, and won't chip/scratch alloys?
I did have a look back about 5 or 6 pages but haven't found anything obvious so apologies if this has been done to death and back already. Thanks in advance!

Fail - found a previous thread. Linky: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
Not my area, but I did go to Wheels in Motion in Chesham for wheel alignment on my Merc. They also do tyres: http://www.blackboots.co.uk/
Bit further North, but MK Tyres in Leighton Buzzard....really helpful & good old fashioned service. I've had about 4 sets for my Jag, and I still don't get a huge discount.....but a good service.
I was impressed that when I pointed out the aluminium body was prone to twisting if not jacked properly they were happy to look at the owners manual and take note of the jacking point, not just think I was a T**T. Their coffee is crap though !

Pity that's so far from me - in 30 years of buying tyres, sometimes running 4 cars at one (so I've bought a lot of tyres) I can't remember ever being treated as anything other than t**t at tyre places if I make any kind of special request. I'd come to the conclusion that the people that work in these places are specially bred.Try Blains at St Margarets
( Drive out of Hemel on Leighton Buzzard Road, left into Great Gaddesden and then right where it gets very narrow - past the Buddhist monastry (really!)and Blaines are on the left)
They do trailers and agricultural stuff as well as cars but their staff are thoughtful and thorough. When I get tyres mail order for my TVRs they fit them carefully and always look after the car.
I also think they're good value
