I'm practicing photography a lot lately and I am trying to find somewhere I can get some decent pictures in the area.

Obviously a little drive would take me to Brands Hatch, but does anyone know of any events or anything a bit closer to home? I saw somewhere on here an uphill event but I never hear of these things.

Cheers sonar

Where are you based? Pretty much an off the wall suggestion but I know there is/was a banger racing circuit in Henham (nr Stansted) and theres autograss near me in St Neots (Off the blackcat r/about on the A1).
Not as glamorous but still fast moving cars.

I think BH would still be the best. That's where I started and you can get quite close. Goodwood is slightly further and good for shots. Will post sone here if you like.

Yeah if you could please mate. I've only 75-300mm zoom lens at the moment so I need to be relatively close. I'm in Hertfordshire, very near Hertford.

Will do when I'm home. Your lens should be fine. For motorsport I use a. 100-400. In some places at brands that's too big!!

Does it need to be cars?
What about karts? I dont know the racing dates but you have Rye House right on your door step...

Brands is a good choice, you can get fairly close to the action.

Anywhere with no debris fencing - but if you've not been, you must go to Mallory Park

Right here are some of mine,

the 100-400mm was to big for these panning shots, had to resort to 18-55 if i remember rightly.

and this one

Then onto the 100-400

and some pit lane action

Nice pictures mate. The first pic on 100-400 is superb. I'll just have to go a bit further.

Good point though, Rye House is very close indeed!

There's a motocross track in harlow where you can get within feet of the track (if you're brave). Motocross bikes are generally colourful, fast moving and do a lot of jumps so good to photograph.

If you come on a day I'm riding I could even give you tips (depending on how well you know your camera etc)

Snetterton not too far from Hertford, some pretty good places although the redevelopments seems to be sticking grandstands at these.

Where's that then?

They've just modified the track and there are some huge jumps now!

Yeah I'm a stones throw away from Rye House, I might as well start out there.

Snetterton is about an hour away I think, might be worth a go.

If you're wondering what sort of pics you can get at an MX track here are some I took at the weekend with just a 100mm prime.
