I am looking for someone to service the LPG kit, BRC on my Jag XJ4.2..same engine as used in Range Rovers, so should be quite common.

The company that did the fitting are a couple of hours away so not too convenient.

I am trying to find a reliable/experienced place...which can be hard to come by in the LPG world !

Thanks

Russell

LPG Autogas in Knebworth would be my choice.

Theres an LPG place in Bedford, along the Goldington road near the crossroads. No idea what they're like though as I've only seen the place when driving past.

I have an MG ZT with the Mustang V8 in, which has the BRC LPG conversion. After 30,000 of trouble free motoring, i keep getting the ecu light comming on showing that it is running lean on bank 1 and 2. I have taken it to a couple of LPG places to be re-tuned/diagnosed, but still have the problem.
You need to go to a BRC specialist. I have just booked mine into Herts Autogas in Knebworth. They have come highly recommended, and are confident that they can sort the issue. there number is 01438-829000.

Thank you, that is almost identical to my current issue, although I can't get my ODB scanner to talk to the Jag...

Will give them a call

Funnily enough I was thinking about that this morning. A ZT 260 really appeals, but MPG in the teens doesn't. Did wonder about getting one and paying someone to stick an LPG system in. How much does a decent conversion cost and how easy is it to find LPG on the forecourt?

You can get a conversion from around £1500...but there are loads of dodgy convertors out there, expect more like £2 to £2.5 k for a car that you are going to keep, or look out for one already done...when someone else has had all of the teething problems.

I've been running LPG for the last 6 years, never had a problem finding it...and you still have all of your petrol tank there, so keep £20 worth in you'll never be empty.

LPG is getting expensive though 67p a litre at my local, 59p litre if I am passing Milton Keynes !

The guy I bought my last car from had his on tank in his (large) garden, as was paying 34p litre.

The previous owner had the conversion done when i brought my ZT, so have had all the benefits without the upfront outlay. However, would have no hesitation in finding a good car and having a conversion done in future. The chap paid £2,200 for the ZT.
As said above, plenty of supply with most of the major companies having it on their bigger sites. I pay anything between .54 to .64p per litre at the moment. It was around .42p per litre in 07 when i brought the car, so it has gone up around 30%, but still about half the cost of petrol.
The ZT averages around 19mpg, so thats the equivalent of 38mpg in petrol term, not bad for a V8. Also has a small reduction on road fund tax.
Definately worth consideringthumbup

In terms of reliability, my previous everyday Jag, which I still have is a 4 litre, straight Six..X300. Converted at 80k, current mileage 323,000. I have FSH..and it has never had any engine work other than routine servicing.
