Does anyone know anywhere in the Hitchin/Letchworth area where I can get my rear uprights machined to accept lobro joints and then welded back up to regain the strength?

They are made of 3mm steel plate.

Failing anywhere that close how about farther afield?

funny you should ask, I dropped the first upright in yesterday. (I can only get one side done at a time because of the space in the garage)

Spoke to Sterling there who said he was interested in picking up more kit car/small engineering jobs.

I hope to get it back Saturday am if it is done in time, then I have to clean/paint/refit and get the other one off.

I'll update with a photo when I get it back.

Got the first upright back today: Looks good.

Just need to clean off the old coating and prep for paint now. I think I'll renew the wheel bearings whilst I have it all in bits as the grease looked thin and burnt...
