It a gorgeous day and I've got the time to go for a drive for a couple of hours. Anyone suggest a route that'll put a smile on my face?

Anywhere that'll take a couple of hours from Watford/St Albans direction?

A507 is a good one.

If you fancy exploring Dunstable might be a good first port of call too - never been around there, but it does have a hoon named after it, so there have to be some decent roads nearby!

Can highly recommend a detour towards Barton Le Clay if you head up that way. smile

I know parts of that route (Harpenden to Luton and on the way back Stanborough to St Albans) and that looks like a pretty good route, cheers. Unfortunately housework's got in the way but hoping to pop out in an hour or so before the school run spoils my fun.

Cheers.

That's not bad at all however IMO the more enjoyable way to get to the B656 (the true party piece on this route) would be the B651 to Wheathampstead via Sandridge and then Codicote Road to Codicote to pick up the B656.

Also, rather than the A505 to A1081 I'd simply turn around at Hitchin and do it again in the other direction! Although, if a loop is preferred I concur with Chris71 and go A1081 to Luton, A6 to Barton and then the splendid if crowded B655 to Hitchin.

I did think that but plumped for the A1 purely to get to the beginning of the Codicote road (which I agree is the best piece of road).
