Hey - what's the RSPB like? I've lived within a couple of miles for 2 years and never been in?
Worth a trip out ata weekend?
good visitor shop (good bird books, guides, home feeding supplies etc) and some nice walks with the potential to see everal species of bird if you have a sharp eye, some areas are a twitchers dream!Worth a trip out ata weekend?
i too shall look for the Heron should i find myself out that way as well
might have got forced out of its normal spot by the river by the choppy, rising water perhaps?
hey up mate! Indeed we do (nearly) all the bits are now ready - apart from the bits we don't have, but don't yet know we need. Off to pick it all up in two weeks!!!
You need to come over and do a spot of shooting! We missed it today, but the past few weeks have been good - the blustery wind has made for some interesting targets
Back on topic - I didn't see the heron about today, but will keep my eyes out as I sometimes see it in the mornings from the train.

As Forthright says it's a nice place to go and i sometimes feel i take it for granted working here. They have 4-5 different trails now including a new one through Heathland which i have to say is always boiling hot if the suns out. I imagine it's down to the sand...Worth a trip out ata weekend?
I would recommend a visit although it's pretty muddy at the moment. Nice to sit up by the gatehouse shop with a coffee though. I must be getting old.
But in all honesty it's a refreshing change from where i spend my spare time. Santa Pod with my lungs full of methanol and upto my arms in oil...
EDIT - No Heron here yesterday, will update later if he arrives today.

4.00pm everyday without fail outside my office window at the RSPB Lodge in Sandy. I can see him now sat in a tree above the pond full of Coi Carp...
I forgot to say, GitThat has to be one of the best office views ever.
No sign of the Heron yet, hope he's ok.
