I need to get the Toyo's on the Scooby before real winter sets in and while I normally use Saxon Tyres in Biggleswade, they aren't what I'd call nice with the wheels and I want to use somewhere good with the new car - anybody suggest anywhere?

We use a place way out near Stanstead call Performace Tyre (or some such) for the Elise as it's the place Castles uses, it's a really nice run there and back, but a bit far really... At least the set coming off and the set going on are scrubbed in so I can enjoy going both ways if we don't find somewhere else smile

I use Huntingdon Performance Tyres in Godmanchester - looked after my wheels and even asked me to check everything over to ensure I was happy before confirming tyre pressures etc.

Dave,

My friend runs www.wheels-inmotion.com and he's happy to do tyre changes, might be worth having a geo setup done too if it's been a while.

Alternatively the guys at RTEC in St Albans are actually a really good bunch of lads. They have the chavvy max power image but they're used to dealing with a lot of Exotica and their workshops are spotless most of the time. Good prices on tyres too.

Saxon Gate do certainly give me low quotes for the Toyo TR1's on the MG, but i've come away more than once in the past with scuffing on the rims furious It may be worth giving Brown & Gammons in Baldock a call (opposite Quenby's) for fitting... they do reasonable prices on Toyo rubber too... Alternatively, if you're inclined to go over to Oakley (north north beds) give Tim at Scoobyparts a call, I'm sure he'll point you in the right direction Dave

try event mobile. they're bloody good, cheap and they will come to wherever you are, so it doesn't cost you in time!

Thanks for the leads. I'll give them all a call.

O/T - Y8RSP:
One of our mate's has a new T350c after no longer having her old T350c due to the structual integrity being reduced. Very very nice cars and made me re-think my opinions of the whole brand.

Saxon tyres in biggelswade is somewhere i'd never go again. After sending the OH down there with the Cooper S to get both fronts replaced as they had about 3mil left and the right one had a puncture, she came back with the left tyre changed and the right one still the standard one.

Their reasoning, they couldn't find a puncture. They still changed the tyre that was ok though rage

I've used Stapletons in Biggleswade for all my tyre requisites for years now. Seem like a good genuine bunch, low staff turnover, and kind to rims (so far) !

What do these places charge for fitting tyres they have not supplied?

I find they generally charge for balancing, valves and disposal if required - just like if you had bought the tyres from them - with an occational extra of tyre removal, which I found odd on the one occation I was asked to pay for it. Not sure how often they fit tyres without taking the old ones off first!

All up it's generally about 40 quid - though I will find out on Friday (assuming I don't get pulled back into work yet again).

Mick, booked to drop the Scooby off Wednesday week and pickup Saturday for MOT at your gaff. Will you be about for a natter on the Saturday?
