There was a significant fire at the Industrial Estate on London Rd in Baldock last night with a large number of local businesses affected. Including some we may all use.

A & R Pound is a big one in the classics and modern classics as they are one of the best upholsterers in the area. Also, powder coaters, detailers, mot, servicing and tyres etc etc

I was in Baldock yesterday afternoon and decided to head to Tesco to top up with some momentum.

The petrol station was closed and you still can’t access the industrial estate behind Tesco. Not sure if the two are connected or if it was just a coincidence but there were a surprising amount of police standing around.

Is the fire thought to be suspicious?

The Fire Service have said it started accidentally. I guess the police presence is because some of the structures may now be unsafe, plus undamaged businesses may be vulnerable to assorted looters and vandals. Quite a few police patrolling the confectionery aisle at the next-door Tesco's yesterday. smile
