Autobahn in Rickmansworth are very good. One man show in a lock up. Did a few bits on mine at Xmas. Nice bloke and when you pull up and see an Alpina B10 and a Z3M coupe waiting you know you're in the right place!

If memory serves chap is called Gary t.01923 718907

Gary is a top mechanic...a somewhat odd fellow but with spanners really knows his stuff and isnt silly money.

Otherwise Phil Crouch at CPC in Chorleywood is always worth talking to

With regard to Gary at Autobahn, just get it confirmed what the job will cost, every time I used him the bill was always far more when I picked the car up than originally quoted. Used to really pee me off.
Final straw was that my car was running rough and cutting out when cold, he diagnosed a whole list of issues that amounted to nearly a grands worth of work. I couldn't afford it so took the car to my local small mechanic who immediately diagnosed a completely bunged up fuel filter. 70 later the car was running smoothly and I never returned to Autobahn.

Ageewith the sentiment on Autobahn's ability to write invoices.

I use Phil at CPC and can't say a bad word and never worry about the bill as its always been very fair.

A guy in work who is OCD about his car also uses him.

Regards,

Rohan

That's interesting to read. When I went to pick the car up at xmas, I was a bit taken a back by the invoice, I did get quite a lot of work done with him (E39 M5 front control arms, 2x rear diff seals, 3 studs drilled out and replaced), and stupidly didn't ask for a quote, I chalked it up to experience and figured it was my own fault for not asking. But interesting reading that others have thought it was a little on the hefty side.

Thanks for all the replies. It's for a mate rather than myself so I'll point him in this direction ... keep the posts coming please as they'll only help him decide.

Cheers,
