I don't do much driving into london if I can help it...however I'm now seeing a girl who lives in Ealing common.

I used a train/tube combo this weekend, it took an hour and a half door to door and cost me £20...I'm pretty sure I'd rather spend an hour in the car and half the amount on fuel instead.

Google maps shows a variety of potential routes, but would be interested in any tips from people who drive near this area in terms of where to avoid etc.

Most likely to be driving over saturday afternoon and back again on sunday (wink wink).

cheers

When I go to Acton (nearby) I just go down the A1M, along to Brent Cross and get on the North Circular.

I've never been when it's not busy, so can't offer you many tips. That's the most direct route I believe anyways.

cheers, Is it a bit of a traffic nightmare then? or is it doable in an hour?

A1M and up to Brent Cross is usually no problem, North Circular is a pain but easily doable in an hour, probably a bit less.

Think you can take the M1 as well but never go that way.

Avoid anything near rush hour, Hanger Lane will be awfull and backed up round the North Circ. side roads round there will be just as bad so you can't easily go back ways either.
Lots of parking restrictions around Ealing so be careful.

M1 to Brent X
A406 North Circular

The Hanger Lane can be busy so avoid the normal times that traffic builds-up, such as early evening on a Sunday.

My Mrs commutes from Watford to Ealing in rush hour and it rarely takes more than an hour, so an hour off-peak is definitely do-able (as is the new girlfriend apparently!!).

I'm currently working at Ealing Hospital and the days I go there I go via Harrow Wealdstone, A409 , A404, A4127 to A4020 which is my destination... Ealing is just up the road

This route I find avoids most the big heavily congested areas.. and suits me

Ealing is normally 45 mins for me starting at 6.45am. A1M, North Circular.

Cut through Colindale if you like. Less traffic, and join North Crcular near Ikea.
