For the last couple of years I've been on the hunt for decent sledging locations with some decent hills. Mini-oh-five is big enough now to enjoy it (I hope) so I'm trying to find somewhere that's out of the way enough not to attract hordes of kids or where (as last year) I'll have to avoid knobends ragging around us on scramblers.

Anyone got any suggestions for out of the way locations in the South Beds/Herts area?

Tring has some good slopes, areas around Great Missenden too.

Whenever I've driven past Dunstable Downs it's been heaving. I'm quite keen to go somewhere a bit more remote with less crowds.

And where in Great Missenden Belleair?

Tring Park,

Wendover: Coombe hill and Bacoombe Hill (best for long runs)

Barton Hills, park at the church at Barton le Clay. Look out for the wild ponies.

Could try Rushmere country park in Leighton Buzzard. My little one loves it up there

Been there before, excellent place but gets a bit crowded. Came in from the other side (untreated back road between the A6 and Hexton) when I was there last - saves an uphill traipse for the first go.

Royston Heath. Large enough to have lots of people without being crowded

Stanborough lakes as I can attest from my own youth. Either above the car park of the northern lake or better still, above the old swimming pool.

Watlington hill just off the B4009 is perfect!

Sometimes see people up there with skis and boards
