Morning all, I'm hoping you may be able to help point me in the right direction, or even help...?

I've a good mate in the village (Much Hadham, East Herts)who is getting married on Sept 7th this year. He has just started his own business and money is very tight - so as a group mates we're all chipping in to help (my Mrs is making the cake, etc, etc).

My role is to secure a nice car for the bride and parents for the very short (less than a mile!) trip from home to church, and then from chuch to reception (less than 1/2 a mile!) post-ceremony. The car will only be required for about 2~2.5hrs on the day.

Unfortunately none of us have a nice large 4 door saloon car - so I thought of asking on here to see if you have any ideas? Or even ask if someone with a suitable car would be willing to help in exchange for copiuous amounts of beer tokens?

Car rental from the nationals (all present up at Stansted airport) want £250++ for one day hire of a 7-series or somesuch, which seems a bit steep - but that is my fall-back option.

We're looking for a modern 7-series/S-class/A8 etc, or a more classic RR/Jag, etc - the 'typical wedding cars' if you will!

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Just don't mention it's for a wedding as they may double the price!

I like the look of those - would be perfect, if it wasn't a 45 minute drive away...smash Was hoping for something closer to home...

Thanks for the pointer though!

If your not sorted yet you could try Foxholes taxis at hertford East station. They have two black unmarked eclass mercs and one of their drivers, Tim, lives in Much Hadham.
So speak to Tim and or Simon (owner) as a fall back if you need to.

Is it really that steep from Hertz et al? I got an A6 for a day a couple of years ago for under £100 from STN. Even Addison Lee might be worth a shot at the sort of money you're thinking. I have to say though, my missus turned up in her brother's Rav-4 - nobody sees the bride arrive. I then drove us away in my Cayman - only time all day, until bed, we got to chat in private!

Good luck!

I know Tim very well - in fact he's picking one of my kids up from a party later tonight...he lives not 100 yards from me. He has his own company now - http://hadhamcarandtaxiservice.co.uk/index.php/en/ .

I did ask him originally, but I'm guessing Foxholes don't have those cars now as he drew a blank - will call him tomorrow to ask again..

Many thanks for the response!

That figures I havent seen Tim for a while and I use Foxholes almost weekly - Tims a good bloke - tell him Andy sends his regards!

I am pretty certain Simon still has two well spec'd mercs (his and his brothers) and they do keep them nice.

Sadly nothing of mine would be of use to you!

Jim, unfortunately they are (at least according to the web) - your mail does encourage me however, so I'll pick up the 'phone and see what they have to say directly...

Andy, Tim is indeed a good bloke - I use him 3~4 times a week at the moment - he's been his own boss for a year or so now, but he does keep in touch with Foxholes, so I'll call him this morning and ask him to enquire with Simon..

The quest continues!

Thinking back I'd booked a (then new) C-Class and got upgraded to the A6. Perhaps call Porsche Cambridge and ask to have an extended day-long test of a Panny? They let me have a Boxster for an entire weekend last year - their courtesy fleet has several Cayennes too, which might be practical in a big dress?!

Thanks for all your help guys - all responses much appreciated!

David (Red997) has very kindly agreed to help with his rather special Panamera - which will be beyond the happy couple's wildest expectations, I'm sure....

The good folk of PH never cease to amaze me beer!

I just want to round the thread off by saying thanks to Red997 - you, Sir, are a legend, and you made the Bride and Groom's day...
