I know this clashes with the Dove House Meet...... just been on the phone to Dove House and had a chat.... firstly, this event is getting much bigger than they expected (only 40 cars last year), secondly, the drive out will be a gentle tottle about..... seriously, a convoy of 100 cars is going to break up and not be that much fun, been there, done it....

plan is to do both meets that day....

you can choose to start at clophill and join me for run up to dove house, and we can meet them either at their place or the aerodrome....or go straight to dove....

final points re both meets..... this is not an organised event, the fly are letting us use their car park for free, the meet is entirely voluntary and free, a certain etiquette and manner are required both in the car park and on the public roads....

name car start point preferred start time preferred rendezvous
70proof gallardo clophill 10am arrive dove house for lunch
andrew superleggera clophill 10am arrive dove house for lunch
Dblue gt3rs clophill 10am arrive dove house for lunch

mate.... for an event, you need event cover.... public liability.... if a spectator injures themselves, say twists their ankle on a bad surface, or say trips and damages a car in a fall, it would be their right (faller and car owner) to claim for damages at an event from the organiser..... thats why these are 'meets', not events, and not organised by the fly, but by me....people attend of their own free will, to a car park meet.....if i have to pay for event cover, these meets die with my interest in them.....

it thus/also means that we can;t have donuts etc in the car park, that's for halfords meets.....

and finally, watch a youtube vid or two of exotica crashes on drive outs.... it happens, si @ dove was saying a contact of theirs stopped organising runs due to an incident....

i wish organising a risk free meet and run was as easy as simply starting a thread on PH, it ain't.... believe it or not i vet names on the list.....and fortunately to date haven;t needed to ask someone not to come... how many lambos would turn up if the carpark was full of corsa's, how many would go on a run..... my first gathering was 6 cars.... that was hard work....

I totally agree that these meets need a degree of organisation...however we need to remember that they are fun, there's far to much bureaucracy in the 9-5 weekday, we dont need it at the weekend as well.
From your earlier post I'm afraid I read that there had been a problem at The Fly this sunday? wasnt sure what it was and had heard of no complaint whilst we were there.
The meets are just that, not events just guys with similar interests meeting for a coffee and chat.

I seem to remember a certain Maclaren nearly going head on.....?

I dont think there is any chance you could stop anyone from attending a meet? perhaps an organised event you could?

In respect to the Dove House meet, I have been before and can say I had a great day, shame it clashes with the 3rd sunday meet.

Just remember this aint no heart op! hehe

Glad I left when I did then.

I know what you mean about runs out and events, I take upto 15 cars on a trip to Le mans or Wales or Devon etc..... + numerous runs out locally. To date no accidents of note, but a few speeding tickets and I've lost most of my hair through worry.

Dove House is close to me, so I'll run straight there, but will support you guys again soon.

Thanks.

what's with the attitude steve......

i wasn;t at clophill this sunday..... as far as i am aware nothing happened and it went well.....

FYI i had a long chat with simon @ dove about 'events' 'meets' 'runs' etc and we actually agree 100%, call him to confirm if you like.... I posted re my first sentence after this chat.... 100 cars is way more than even he expected, though obviously he is delighted.... as am i.... but it also means he, and i, as i am bringing a bunch from clophill, have to assume some responsibility.....

lighten up.... how many tunnel runs etc have i organised.... can i stop anyone, no, not really, but if things get as i/we do not want, the event simply goes underground.... i bit more work sending PM's to all, but i've got a big folder of contacts so underground wouldn;t take to much time...

a couple of plonkers, whom i didn't recognise, turned-up to our event as publicly advertised
i'm not too sure what we can do to discourage such behaviour, and am certainly open to suggestions

It wasn't any of the GTR owners either, we had all left before the Aventador turned up.
