Anyone know Stanstead Abbotts??
Discussion
Hi Guys,
I'm currently house hunting with the Girlfriend in Hertfordshire as we have decide to move out of London. The big plus is I can get a garage and also my friend what's to loan his westfield to me whilst he's working abroad :-)
Anyways, there are a couple of houses we like in Stanstead Abbotts...... and I wondered if there are any local Ph'ers who could tell me what the area is like and what the commute is like into central london.
Thanks in advance

I am in Hertford just up the road.
Trains in/out of London are 2 an hour to Liverpool Street, more fequent from Broxbourne but you need to drive there and park. Trains to Brox are on the Stansted line so more frequent.
Rail rolling stock is old but you should get a seat in and out of town - must be 40mins from SA?
Good pub next to the river, Jolly Fisherman and nice sunday walk/cycle to Ware/Hertford up the river in summer.
Easy access to A1/M11/M25 and Stansted/Luton for flights.
Lots of flats in the area, not so many houses so house prices hold up well.
Good restaurants and pubs in Hertford and Ware and a good night out.
I think the area is generally on the up.
What else do you need to know?

The Red Lion is a much better pub IMO.....
Avoid the Lord Louis...its crap
The village is ok, the only downside is the traffic caused by the level crossing, but as already said the commute into london is just 1 train to Liverpol St
There is a Co-op in the village which opens pretty late too, so provisions isnt much of an issue, the other major supermarkets are with a few miles also.
Walking the river is also nice if you have a dog.
