Hi,
Can anyone recommend a decent Garage/Mechanic in Herts, I’m south of the county (Potters Bar) but happy to travel around if they’ve got courtesy cars/near a station.

Thanks,
Matt

If you'd go as far as hitchin I'd reccomend top Marques, they have courtesy cars and do a great job.

What type of car are you trying to service?

Cheers, Hitchin a little far.

It's a Golf Tdi (2003). After a trust worthy mechanic, last place i took it too didn't put the car back together properly (pipework, covers).

I'm taking my Audi here http://www.marktempestautocentre.co.uk tomorrow.

Heard some good things about them. Will post back and let you know how I get on.

Hi there!
I can recommend Pesam Motors EN8 7BG 01992 635004
Run by Pete and Sam, both have worked for various dealers in their time. Have looked after some of my cars including Evo's and the wife's Beetle. I don't think they have courtesy cars, but are 4 meters away from a station if you need to get into town.

OK, took my car into Mark Tempest in Welwyn yesterday.

Was a bit unsure at first as I dropped car off and they did not ask me any questions (It was an investigation / noise solving exercise). I needn't have worried as about an hour later the guy who was obviously going to be working on the car phoned me and asked for a bit more detail. Anyway, they found the problem and phoned me with a final price quote for repair (quite a rare thing these days, a lot tend to forget about VAT until it's time to cough up).

Job sorted, happy for me to pay over the phone as I was running late due to trains.
They even phoned me to tell me the M25 was stuffed in case I was coming back that way.

All in all a very good service and will be heading back there without a doubt.

Cheers for coming back with your experiences. Sounds positive, must admit i've spotted them on google searches but wanted some feedback! I'll give them a go.

Last place I found via the good garage guide, local to me. My car came back with pipes chaffing on alt belt, cam cover mis placed and rattling. Car lacked oomph after wards, turned out the by MAF sensor (however that could have been coincidence - still not diagnosed on return of vehicle though).

But to top it off when my missus dropped off the car they treated her as a fool.
