I have a healthy interest in watches and currently own a couple of Omegas as well as a cheap Toy watch for day to day wear. I've been lurking on the TZ watch forum and have only today tried to register but with no joy. Do you have to be invited to join or introduced by a current member?

I signed up today.

You need to sign up during office hours, you need to wait for the 'I agree' button on the terms and conditions to become active, and the captchas are hard to read!

Oh, then you have to wait to be accepted! biggrin

It's worth it though, no spammers etc.

Cheers for that. Seems to be a pretty knowledgeable forum with some interesting deals to be had in the for sale section. I've just tried again now and it's still not possible. I'll try again in the morning.

They don't always let people register, you have to give it time.

I registered a while back, received an email that I would be notifiesd when I am accepted and account activated. Never happened. Registered again with another email account yesterday, got the same email notification and yet awaiting the activation email. Does it normally take some time or they don't want me as a member?

Try emailing and asking?

I got accepted within a few hours, no problem?

Although I had just bought a watch strap off Eddie, so he maybe felt obliged to accept me biggrin

Out of curiosity, I tried registering and the whole process, including the confirmation from the admins took 30 minutes.

Did mine this morning, whole process around an hour smile

Had a quick butchers in the Sales Corner, was probably a bad idea... hehe

Seriously though, I'm unsure as to exactly what direction I should take with my next purchases, hopefully this will help me decide.... or make me bankrupt... Looking forward to looking through the various threads!

If you're using a hotmail address, this might be the cause.

Eddie is very cautious about who he lets in and if there's a whiff of "not real" about your email address, you've not much hope.

Hi

New registrations were suspended for a while but as far as i'm aware they should be OK now..

TZ was hacked last year in a big way so i think this is making Eddie a bit more careful..

Also, people who just join to sell stuff are found out very quickly and jumped on by the other members.

There's the 50 post rule and it's common to see 50 very quick posts mostly just with smileys or very short replies, then post #51 is to sell a load of watches- they're banned double quick as they could be conmen taking money for watches they don't own..

It seems to work although some build up a reputation just to do the dirty on people at a later date but that is very rare wink

Cheers, John smile
