Breitling Aerospace Op Telic CAW
Discussion
I have one of the limited edition (07/50) Breitling Aerospace Op telic watches relating to the Gulf War 2. I hankered after this model for a while but I really fancy something different and to be honest, I'm not really a Breitling fan anymore.
I already have a Omega Seamaster which was a 21st b'day present but I really fancy a large Planet Ocean and the SS GMT II with ceramic bezel.
I suppose my question is whether anyone thinks my Breitling is worth holding onto or not and whether it will retain increase/decrease in value?

Don't think these watches are particularly collectable, but they are very nice, and are popular with genuine pilots who want a clear analogue dial and digital chrono.
In my airline they are known as the clitoris watch as every c**t has one.

I know there are loads of limited edition Aerospaces, hence my question about future value. Sounds like its maybe not worth bothering to hold onto ...

Actually, I think it's the one with the yellow or orange dial and built in Emergency Locator Beacon that comes in for the derisory comments.
Don't think I've ever seen a professional pilot wearing one though. Mind you Steve Fossett apparently had one - not that it helped him much.
Yes the Emergency is the Aerospaces bigger and far more ostentatious older brother.;) Funny enough (or not!) a mate of mine has the Emergency Orbiter 3 limited edition. I always thought it was an expensive gimmick!Don't think I've ever seen a professional pilot wearing one though. Mind you Steve Fossett apparently had one - not that it helped him much.

Seen as you think the many military pilots that have aerospaces are c**ts I doubt you know much about anything.
Calm down Dorris. They are great watches, many of my friends have them. It's just a joke that Breitlings and in particular the Aerospace is a bit of a cliched pilot's watch. The joke is that everyone has one not that they are actually c**ts for buying one.
Have you got one?

In reply to the OP; it's very difficult to judge if that watch will become collectable.
AFAIK Breitling will oblige certain customers who want a custom face and order in bulk. I've seen Commando Helicopter Force and 815Sqn (Lynx) watches before, and I'm sure there are a few AAC and RAF customs about other than the OP's one. I don't know why this particular model was released though - it seems they might have had a few unsold from a military order and decided to 'go public' with it.
As they are bought as personal mementos and not released as official Breitling special editions, they do not mean much to most people, but on the other hand they are unusual purely due to their scarcity.

Thanks for that. All I know is that the watch was released to commemorate a particular exercise (Op telic) in 2003 in the Gulf War II by the Tornado GR4's, hence the logo's on the face. As there were 50 produced and I know there are larger figures of the other special editions, I thought it 'may' become something special ... Mmm ... well I may just hang on to it ...
The 'exercise' you were referring to was a full-blown war in which one tornado crew was killed, amongst others.
The watches were commissioned as a Limited Edition of 50 from Breitling and were not, as someone suggests, 'leftovers'. All 50, to the best of my knowledge, were originally bought by Tornado crews who served in the campaign.
I should know - I'm a c**t who qualified for one.
