Out here in Singapore, TAG are doing a run of 150 of some watch or other for the F1 GP. Now do these things :-

A) Go up in value, as they're limited
B) Drop at a usual used watch rate
C) Drop like a stone, no one's interested in limited edition watches

I'm thinking B, but maybe you people have better insight into such matters...

In 30 years time they might be worth more than a standard one to collectors. Assuming anyone is going to bother collecting them in 30 years

Aren't Tag a load of old carp owned by the swatch group who produce ETA based reps of their old stuff and heavily promoted, advertised stuff worn by sportsmen who get paid for it?

Or have I missed something. Answer:don't bother with the 'limited edition'

Heuer on the other were a different kettle of fish.

TAG are just tat, and as pointed out, image (a ste one) over substance.

On the limited edition front, they only make sense if the company really does "limit the edition". And by that I mean not repeatedly churning out limited editions.

Tag are owned not by Swatch but by LVMH, who also own Zenith and Hublot.

Isn't it Omega that are part of the Swatch group?

Among many others. Swatch own:

Breguet
Blancpain
Glashütte Original
Jaquet Droz
Léon Hatot
Omega
Tiffany & Co.
Longines
Rado
Union Glashütte
Tissot
ck watch & jewelry
Balmain
Certina
Mido
Hamilton
Swatch
Flik Flak
Endura
Tourbillon

And of course ETA.

(Have to confess I looked it up on their website, haven't even heard of some of those ...)

I have to disagree with a few of the comments here. Recently bought a Limited edition Tag carrera dating from 2004. Model cv2117. Iam totally chuffed with it. Great classic design which goes well with both formal and casual wear.

Link

Have to admit I prefer some of the older models to the latest incarnations

I would be very surprised if it was worth anything significantly more than a standard run of the mill versions

Thanks,

I saw one of these way back in 2004, it is a limited edition model known as the 'carrera jack heuer model' limited to 1964 pieces. Couldn't buy one at the time...but was one that I was on the lookout for ever since. Managed to find an unused second hand example a few months ago. They come up ocasionaaly on timezone and sales corner.

I would save your money if I were you Phil.
Can't see how it would appreciate especially in this market.
Don't worry, I wasn't about to smile. I'd only ever spend lots of money on a watch if there was a good return. Why buy a TAG when a Timex will do wink

TAG these days are just a parody.

Heuer watches are one thing, TAG Heuer are another. TAG Heuer watches are completely diferrent.

Techniques d' Avant Garde(TAG). A forward looking companya belonging to Mansour Ojeh, blah de blah, look it up. Google is your friend.

Anywhooo.

LVMH bought TAG some years ago.

TAG Heuer since, have played upon the fact that they were the only, 'Officially Certified', moon watch. Despite the fact almost all the astro's preferred their Rolex GMT's and wore those anyway. I digress.

TAG Heuer have made at least 20 special editions of the Speed' Pro' in the last couple of decades. TAG exist merely to reissue classics and do limited editions, it seems.

I love my Speedmaster though. It's a Snoopy. Guess what has been re-made and re-issued more than once?

Will I ever learn to use a fecking keyboard?

Yup that's right, Omega...

I was thinking at the time though of TAG Monaco, Jack Heuer re-issues, various Carreras... etc - And Omega Speedys.

Where's the red face smiley?
