Well, 2 months ago i ordered a Rolex Daytona, after being told that it would be take 2-3 years to come in, giving me enough time to get funds etc etc.
Today i got a call saying one had arrived, I was No.2 on list, Mr (or Mrs) No.1 didnt want it, so the dealer phoned me to see if i want to take it!!!
Jesus... i was close to paying a premium to get it sooner, thank god i didnt!!
I am going to see it in a couple of weeks, the dealer said i can cancel if it is too soon for me and i will remain as No.1 on the list!

New model on the way, apparently, with date. Rolex dumping old stock.
I doubt it, for the last couple of years the rumour mills have been suggesting all manner of replacemant Daytona including; a 44mm Daytona, a PVD Daytona (like Bamfords) and a date Daytona. The problem with Date lies with it's dial position , which is traditionaly at 3 o'clock on other Rolex date models. In the past when Rolex used the Zenith 'El Primero' on the 1652- series Daytona, it didn't utilise the date unlike Zenith/Ebel who placed it a 4.30.Rolex carefully guard any forthcoming models, which are kept strictly under wraps until the Basel Fair each year in April. Once shown, it generally takes a couple of months for new pieces to arrive, at the moment the DeepSea SeaDweller showcased in April has just started to arrive.
Plus, Rolex showcased the rose gold variant of the Daytona as Basel this year, it's unlike they would make it obsolete within 12 months....
Just my 2 cents.....
Personally, I think it's a reflection of the market reality biting.
There will be some people with a vested interest in keeping prices high, but in the present and forthcoming climate, no one should be paying a premium for watch unless it's something pretty special and unique - which the Daytona isn't.
