A couple of new acquisitions!
Discussion
So I like the Aeromatic watches - retro fun at a low price. I bought this one the other day on a whim, and it arrived today!
It's a good bit better in the metal than it is on the various website photos advertising it:
Nice to be able to see the clever bits:
It's a big watch, at about 44mm:
And it's quite deep, too - 12mm:
It seems pretty well constructed and the strap is very comfy. I'd be happier if it had a quickset date, rather than a button you press with a paperclip or similar, but hey ho.
Update: The one I got had a buggered date advance. Because Nick at Werner's Flying Watches is a top chap, he replaced the watch without delay.
This next one was free. Well, "free" in the sense of "I had to work at the same company for ten years to get it".
It's my long service award. The deal is that you get so many points to spend on a website full of tat. In amongst the smoothie makers, DVD players, horrible "designer" quartz watches, and away-day "health spa experiences", was a Rotary skeleton automatic with display back.
So I had that and spent the remainder of my points on a new Parker Sonnet fountain pen (because like the hamfisted goon that I am, I broke the barrel on my Duofold and have yet to replace it).
I deliberately chose something a bit dressy because I've got chunky watches coming out of my ears. My first impression was how many instruction booklets came with it. The second was how nicely finished the movement is.
The wrist shot (crap, couldn't get it right today)
Just resting:
That face in close-up:
A decorated rotor:
I'm still trying to work out whether it's quite cool or naff as hell. I'm leaning toward "gloriously naff"
