I'm looking for a new tough watch for work and having had a G shock for 7 years fancy something different. Has anyone any experience with this brand, quite fancy this watch:
Budget around the £100 mark if anyone has any other suggestions

Are you after a total 'beater' replacement? Or are you after an additional watch to alternate on days?

MTM are apparently pretty good (and for the boys down the pub, are 'US Special Forces' watches).

Victorinox (Swiss Army Knife) watches also fall into your price bracket. The most popular watch in the US, and quite cool to look at.

G-Shocks - so many out there (including solar ones). IMHO the best 'beater' out there by a mile (I have one for gardening/DIY).

Or go to Werners Flying watches (big thread below) for something different.

Maybe one of the perspex cased Rolex homages (IXMAS or something like that - will update when I can get to a QP magazine).

They are all new though - if you are willing to go second hand, there are loads and loads - the TZ website, watches.co.uk and a few others are your friends.

And enjoy!

Thanks for that, Yep i'm after something hard as nails 'beater'. I think 7 years is pretty good going after all the punishment my G shock has taken, but it's finally given up. The replacement would have to stand up to temperature extremes, oil, and general mechanicy mess smile

Personally, i'd get something like this:

A solar powered, metal, digital and 'analogue' G Shock. By far the best beater(IMHO).

I know, but you can't improve on prefection! Get 2 watches, a beater and a special one.... You know it makes sense!

Cheers guys, I know I should buy another G Shock. Better the devil you know, and all that. I'll take a chance on the Luminox for a 1er and be slightly different smile

Traser seems to be much the same as Luminox but slightly more expensive.

I'm liking the Victorinox watches, simple and classic design. However the one I like only has a metal strap which is no good for me in hot and dusty places.

What a find Werners Watches was thumbup. Look a bit to delicate for my requirements but I'll be looking to replace my 'dress' watch with something from there.

I know a Seiko Monster suggestion is becoming as cliché an MX5 in general gassing, but it fits the bill and gives me an excuse to post these:

I really want one now (I find the original dial a bit cluttered) but I'm worried it'll look silly on my dainty wrists.

hehe A bit more information: these dial/hand replacements are done by a chap in Hong Kong (totally legit though) called Harold.

I don't think he has a website but his email is yobokies@yahoo.com.hk

I've worn the Luminox 3905 as an everyday watch for just over 3 yrs now and as a Truck Driver who works nights I find it invaluable.
It's rugged and pratical and the only thing that needs replacing after 3yrs of wear and tear is the NATO webbing strap that came with it.

Been wearing the Seiko Black Monster for the last 3 weeks just to get the automatic movement used to me and settled in. It's loast about 1min in 3 weeks of wear so I'm fairly impressed with it atm.

Just waiting on the 500 limited edition U. Auer Alpineglow from http://www.belawa-shop.com/ to arrive now and then to get the TAG Heuer CAH1113.BA0850 from Florida when I go there next month.

I've been wearing a victorinox airboss for the last couple of years, it hasnt lost any significant time and has stood up to the daily grind well, the brown leather strap is gradually acquiring a nice patina
